Green Waste Solutions - Safe disposal of green waste in the Stellenbosch area
As humans, we tend to generate a lot of trash and we blindly just dump everything we consider waste into the bin. Sure, as cultural trends have shifted over the last couple of decades, some of us even go so far as to separate our trash into the various recycling departments. Most people though, couldn’t be bothered with everything landing up in the black wheelie bin, ready to be carted off to the municipal dump. More often than not, this includes all types of organic green waste that is generated by the household.
So, What is Green Waste?
Organic green waste is any organic material such as food, garden and lawn clippings.
It can also include plant-based material and degradable carbon such as paper, cardboard and timber.
Burying organic waste in a municipal landfill is a huge environmental problem and it’s not just because of the resources we lose. When green waste is dumped in a landfill, it undergoes a process called anaerobic decomposition (because of the lack of oxygen) and this generates a toxic gas called methane. When released into the atmosphere, methane is 25 times more potent greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide.
This is where Umoja Soils comes to the rescue. As a dedicated organic waste treatment facility, we offer a solution in the form of a natural process where green waste is converted into nutritious soil that brings life back into your garden or farm. This process is 100% organic , with no chemicals, no smells, just pure goodness that comes from our earthworms.
